They come into the world, everyone, to die and in the meantime to be restless, to be deceived, to suffer.



GFN is a tragedy. The tragedy of a young woman, of a family, of an entire community. And as in all tragedies, this too is expected to have a tragic ending, a dramaturgically announced, awaited and inevitable death.

The characters in the tragedies find themselves having to face adversities that will end up proving to be much greater than them, as if they belonged to a different and immutable plan, which will see them succumb, inevitably defeated.

GFN is a contemporary tragedy, whose protagonists are not heroes, kings, princes or deities, but members of a working-class family from West Sussex.

GFN is a news story, a story among many other stories that are told in newspapers and by newspapers, and which run through our daily existence - inevitably – distant.

GFN is the story of an author who stumbles upon one of these countless print stories and can no longer get up. Must write. And by writing he gives life to an opera, in which I tripped, and which, no longer able to get up, I wanted to represent.

GFN is above all a text, that of Vitaliano Trevisan, fueled by an almost infectious power. A grotesque, tragic, poetic and never never! text banal. Like death. Like life, which is part of this.
