V.A.N. Verso Altre Narrazioni is a theatre collective of young actors who graduated from the Academy of Ancient Drama in Syracuse. The members of the VAN Collective have been living and traveling together since 2021, touring all over Italy in a van and bringing theatre to spaces of all kinds, seeking to reach an ever-wider audience. The directing and writing are predominantly collective. The Collective's productions start from the classics, making them contemporary through a predominant musical language and the writing of original dramaturgies. At the beginning of its activity, this Collective, formed by highly determined artists, started by performing street theatre actions with the production "2021: Odissea Nello Spiazzo," performed more than 400 times in Italy and abroad, particularly in France in Nancy during the International Commedia dell'Arte Day 2024. In 2023, they began a training program at the University of Catania with the "UtopicoVAN" workshop, which is still ongoing, and launched a series of workshops within the DopoFestiVAN International Youth Festival of Palazzolo Acreide, winner of the European Heritage Award, which also continues today. The first contribution from the European Union arrived for the "CREARTS" project, aimed at creating theatre and community spaces as well as creative workshops. These milestones are fundamental as they represented a turning point for the Association we are presenting, allowing it to establish consistency along with a short-, medium-, and long-term vision and planning. The Collective's first Plautus production, the show "I Menecmi - come l'ottone e l'oro," earned them recognition from the International Center for Plautine Studies, and their activity is sponsored by the University of Urbino. In 2024, this production won the Insuasa Prize and was the subject of Andrea Pacelli's degree thesis in Performing Arts and Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome, titled "I Menecmi come l'ottone e l'oro - How to exhumate a work handcrafted," alongside contributions by Professor Bandini for the "DIDASKEIN PROJECT" at the University of Palermo. One of their interventions is included in "LVDI PLAVTINI SARSINATES V, Personaggi in scena: il servus" published by Carocci. Over time, the language used has made their productions musical, engaging, and very popular. In 2024, the Collective managed to tour 7 regions with more than 40 performances of the show "Odisseo Superstar - l'eroe di cui Nessuno ha bisogno," co-produced in collaboration with T.T.R. Il Teatro di Tato Russo. Over time, and through great dedication, it has managed to receive local, national, and international recognition. Also in 2024, with the show "Lino e Lone," they reached the finals of Scenario Infanzia and opened the Paris Olympics with "Maratona di New York" by Edoardo Erba, invited by the Italian Cultural Institute. In 2024, the Ministry of Culture funded their project "Mimnesko: Memory Of The Time I" for the protection of linguistic minorities, and their European project design journey brought results, leading them to have two European projects currently active: "STAGE," a networked project with 5 theatre associations, ranked first in the European selection list for KA154 key funding, and "ArtCafè," an educational project aimed at providing creative and project-design tools in the third sector.
