Giselda Ranieri

Known for her kaleidoscopic faces expressions and her rhythmic body, Giselda is a dancer and choreographer mastered in Performing Arts and specialized in Dance at the DAMS in Bologna.Her site-specific and context based works are hosted in places such as Galleria degli Uffizi (Florence), Triennale Bovisa Contemporary Art Museum (Milan), Pecci Museum (Prato). She is an invited lecturer at the Brera Academy (Milan) for practice and theory of instant composition lessons and at Alma Artis Academy (Pisa) as teacher of Digital Choreography. She is an associated artist of ALDES/Roberto Castello since 2015.Since 2018 she collaborates with Collective Corps Citoyen. 2008-2019Instant composition, poetry of gesture and expressive freedom are the pillars of Ranieri’s choreography. Since her early years her work is profoundly influenced by Katie Duck, Julyen Hamilton, Dominique Dupuy and Cosmin Manolescu.Since 2010 she collaborates with Manolescu for the E-MOTIONAL Rethinking Dance European project and for the European tour of Fragile.Awarded for best direction at the ACT Festival/17 (Bilbao) she’s part of the international IYMA network.Her solo T.I.N.A. wins Supernova/19 (Pergine) and is selected for Vetrina Anticorpi/19.The participatory project HO(ME), in collaboration with the Italian-Tunisian collective Corps Citoyen, is hosted in Valletta Capital of European Culture/18 and CROSS Festival/19 among other venues.2020-212020 opens a period of choreographic exploration of digital formats.The absurd and ironic approach that characterizes her analogue creations translates into the digital collaboration with the social media manager Simone Pacini: IsaDora – The Tik Tok Dance Project, selected for Residenze Digitali/20. Thanks to Mosaico Danza grant Interplay StillDigital, in 2021 Ranieri creates RE_PLAY/Wireless Connection in collaboration with videomakers collective DIANE.Researching into the ineffable intimacy between digital video and body brings Ranieri to her last stage production RE_PLAY that investigates the pairs of Distance/Proximity and Presence/Absence linked with memories. A studio of RE_PLAY, supported by ResiDance, is performed at Open Studios NID Platform/21.
