The artistic duo Margó Paciotti and Lorenzo Pasquali founded ONDADURTOTEATRO in 2005, a performing arts company based in Rome, Italy. This year, in 2025, we celebrate our 20th anniversary. The duo has artistic roots that subvert contemporary languages through a “pop vision” of the performing arts. The research and creative work that bears the “directed by ONDADURTOTEATRO” hallmark is focused on physical theatre, nouveau cirque and dance. The various techniques of expression employed allow the duo to create a strong visual language that fosters impactful interaction with people of all ages, ethnicities and cultures and enables them to reach an international audience. The performances and shows directed by the duo combine the use of large-scale moving objects, machinery, fireworks, water effects, video projections and music. The artistic duo has directed operas lirica, large-scale shows, impactful performances, site-specific shows, theatre productions, multidisciplinary shows, VR and AI productions and contemporary circus production, which has won them widespread international acclaim, from audiences and critics alike. The shows directed have been on tour in a number of European countries (such as IT / DE / ES / FR / DK / LU / PL / AT / HU / CY / RO / ES-CN / IE / the UK) as well as travelling to other continents, to countries including Chile / Mexico / South Korea / Russia / the USA. The duo has been involved in cultural exchange projects in Thailand / India / Cuba. Thanks to their multidisciplinary approach, the duo has also curated festivals, events and international projects using the “arts” as a strategic pillar for social change and community engagement. The work carried out focuses on examining and discussing important topics related to current social and political matters, LGBTQIA+ issues, the development of cultural activities in rural areas, youth engagement and climate change. “All that is important for us here to remember is that the drama, even in its most complicated and intellectual form is basically the same as it was in its earliest beginnings, that is to say, rhythmic movement of the human body in space, movement that has developed naturally from the movement of a festival crowd.” (Fuchs, Revolution in the Theatre). Many thanks to everyone who has joined us and will continue with us on this amazing journey.
